Teaching Schools work with others to provide high-quality training and development to new and experienced school staff.
Their aim is to raise standards and improve outcomes for children by developing a self-improving and sustainable school-led system working through 3 areas:
- initial teacher education
- joint professional development (including research and development)
- school-to-school support.
Shanidar is a teaching school alliance in Bradford with a specialist SEND/Inclusion focus, led by five schools: Central PRU, Delius primary special school, Swain House Primary School and Titus Salt secondary mainstream school, working with Southfield School the designated Teaching School.
We have strategic partnerships with the District Achievement Partnership of Bradford special schools, Exceed SCITT, Leeds Trinity University, Pennine TSA, Yorkshire Special Education Partnership (Schools Direct) and LA Education Psychology Service.
Building on the work of the District Achievement Partnership for SEND and Inclusion, we would like to work with many more schools in both specialist and mainstream settings to expand our offer for initial teacher training, joint professional development and school-to-school support.
